5 Reasons to see an acne specialist

I suffered from acne when I was a teenager, and I tried just about everything until I found esthetics in my early twenties, which has helped me manage my breakouts. I know that I am not alone in the struggle with acne; in fact, more than 50 million Americans suffer from acne at some point in their life. My acne experience and how I felt after knowing the resources to control my acne are why I decided to go to esthetics school and open my practice as an acne specialist.

Why am I just an acne specialist?

I first opened Nirvana by Autumn, offering a wide range of beauty services. Although I had so much fun learning new techniques and services, I eventually realized that I wasn't following my true passion. I discovered a program that allowed me to become a certified acne specialist, and it was at that moment I knew that I was meant to help other women struggling with breakouts finally get the results they needed. Specializing in acne allows me to focus on one thing, and that is treating acne. I get to help people 1:1 and design a program specifically for their needs; this requires a lot of TCL, and I get to pour my heart into helping acne clients.

What is an acne specialist?

An acne specialist is an esthetician that is trained in treating acne. Many contributing factors can lead to breakouts. A specialist has the knowledge and tools to educate clients on lifestyle, diet, and skincare products to help keep their acne under control.

Here are 5 reasons to see an acne specialist if you can't seem to break up with breakouts:

  1. Skin Analysis- estheticians are trained to analyze your skin to determine your specific skin type, acne type, and skin's needs.

  2. Professional recommendations- estheticians can customize at-home skincare programs to treat your acne.

  3. No prescriptions- a standard protocol for a dermatologist is to prescribe acne patients oral antibiotics, topical antibiotics, or prescription retinoids to try. These prescriptions can have serious side effects and are usually a temporary fix for treating acne.

  4. Skincare guidance- acne specialists, offer guidance based on your lifestyle, diet, and skincare concerns, typically the root cause of breakouts. Estheticians have more time to spend with clients than in a dermatologist appointment. We make you the priority.

  5. Professional treatments- acne specialists are trained to perform acne treatments that consist of exfoliating the skin enough to control acne. These treatments also consist of extractions that are done so that they won't injure the skin.

If you're having a battle treating your acne, then you should schedule a consultation with Nirvana by Autumn to start your journey to clear skin today.
